As we consider the upcoming holiday weekend, we take time to remember the sacrifices of the brave men who fought for our physical freedom. Freedom from the tyranny of kingship. Freedom to openly express ourselves and our beliefs. Freedom to live as different and unique cultures, yet as neighbors. Let us also take time to remember the sacrifice of Jesus Christ who died and rose for our spiritual freedom. Galatians 5:1 states "It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery." God allowed His only son to die so that we could be free from the law, free from the slavery of always having to make sacrifices and abide by rights and rituals. Now we can come boldly and directly to Him in our time of need! As such, we are His sons… and no longer slaves (to the man). Yet we still serve Him, our King, to experience His favor and true life-change. And in that lies our eternal, forever freedom.
