What is fasting? Fasting is a voluntary choice not to eat for a period of time in order to focus one’s attention on prayer in a significant moment in life. Fasting can make prayer more effective, can help us to focus spiritually and can interrupt distractions that control us.

Fasting is an opportunity to prepare ourselves for God to work in our lives and to answer our prayers. God is always ready. Fasting makes it clear that we are ready. We fast to change God's mind, to be healed from shame and guilt, to be released from things that enslave us, to be protected from danger and to enhance our worship of God.
