About
Kimberly is a journalist and retired educator. She has worked in public relations and publishing including freelance assignments for both Christian and teacher publications. For 20 years, Kimberly also worked as an elementary teacher, reading/writing specialist, teacher mentor and staff developer.
She holds BA and Master’s degrees in communications and education from the University of Washington and Antioch University. Kimberly and her husband Roy have been married for 40 years and have two grown sons. Six years ago, Kimberly and Roy moved from Seattle, Washington, to Tucson, Arizona, where they attend Casas Church.

Love That Lasts
God's love for us is completely unselfish. Christ modeled such sacrificial love while He was on earth. The apostle Paul paints a picture of agape love in 1 Corinthians 13 that we can apply to every relationship we have.

The Power of Words
King Solomon declares that our tongues have the power of life and death (Proverbs 18:21), He recognizes that with forethought, the tongue can heal, encourage and teach (Proverbs 16:23). However,our words can destroy relationships, break spirits and negate our witness (Proverbs 12:18).

Words of Blessing
Even though words can hurt, the tongue can bring us and others great blessing and delight. According to Proverbs 25:11, well-spoken words reflect beauty and value: A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.

Wounding Words
Broken bones heal more quickly than wounds inflicted by a malicious tongue. Lying words, hypocritical words, and thoughtless words can destroy lives. Conversely, timely words aptly spoken can contribute to comfort and healing.

Discretion and Spiritual Maturity
King Solomon and James both warn us that our words are extremely powerful, and he reminds us that living the righteous life God desires includes carefully managing every word we speak. We learn to control our speech by offering ourselves to God, and following Jesus' model.
