“’MY THOUGHTS are not YOUR THOUGHTS, neither are my WAYS your ways,’ declares the Lord. ‘As the HEAVENS are HIGHER than the EARTH, so are my WAYS higher than your ways and my THOUGHTS than your thoughts,’ says the Lord.” - Isaiah 55:8-9
Your BEST THOUGHT on your BEST DAY is 93 billion light-years short of HOW GREAT and HOW GOOD God is.
“The Spirit that DWELLS IN US jealously regards us as His own.” James 4:5
Theory of Everything—the answer to every prayer is MORE of the holy spirit “If we think of the Holy Spirit as merely a power or influence, our constant thought will be, how can I get more of the Holy Spirit. If we think of Him in the biblical way as a DIVINE PERSON, our thought will rather be, how can the Holy Spirit have more of me?” —R.A. Torrey . God GOES where He is WANTED. Revival is God’s response to HUNGER The opposite of IDOLATRY is humility . “God OPPOSES the PROUD, but GIVES GRACE to the HUMBLE. SUBMIT yourselves, then to God. RESIST the devil, and he will flee from you. DRAW NEAR to God, and He will draw near to God. HUMBLE YOURSELVES before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” -James 4:6-7, 10 To think of yourself as anything less than WHO YOU ARE in Christ is FALSE humility HUMILITY is HOLY CURIOSITY . HUMILITY is filling the gaps with positive assumptions. Humility is CHECKING YOUR EGO AT THE DOOR. Humility is RELINQUISHING YOUR RIGHTS Humility is GOING THE EXTRA MILE. . Humility is giving the SEAT OF HONOR to others. HUMILITY is WASHING FEET . “Jesus knew that the Father had given him AUTHORITY over EVERYTHING and that He had come FROM GOD and would return TO GOD. So he got up from the meal, and he did the last thing the disciples would have ever imagined, he took off his outer clothing, wrapped a towel around his waist, and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him.” -John 13:3-4 Make your personal notes here: QUESTION: Are you washing your hands? Or are you washing others feet? “Worship is the STRATEGY whereby we INTERRUPT PREOCCUPATION with ourselves.” our —Eugene Peterson “Then the WORD OF THE LORD came to him: “You will have a son of your own who will be your heir. Then the Lord TOOK HIM OUTSIDE and said, “LOOK UP into the sky and COUNT THE STARS if you can. So shall your offspring be. Abram BELIEVED GOD, and it was CREDITED to him as righteousness.” Genesis 15:4-6 Make your personal notes here: LOVE is our CALLING FAITH is our CREDIT CARD. CARD. “Day and night they never stop saying: ‘Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come. ‘They lay their crowns before the throne and say, ‘You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for your created all things, for thy pleasure they are and were created.’ Then I heard every creature IN HEAVEN and ON EARTH and UNDER THE EARTH and IN THE SEA. They sang: ‘To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!’” -Revelation 4:8, 10-11 “WORSHIP is transcendent wonder.” —Thomas Carlyle HUMILITY always ends with HOLY, HOLY, HOLY
Humility is not thinking less of yourself or having low self-esteem, it is thinking of yourself less, by thinking of others and God more. As the Spirit of God dwells in us, and we focus on His glory, His ways, and His thoughts, humility blossoms. As we take time to worship God, we turn the tables on idolatry and embrace a Christ-like humility. This turning of attention gives us the capacity and motivation to follow Jesus’ example of washing the feet of others.
