Lead Us Not Into Temptation

G: 1. God does not tempt

J: 2. Deliver us from Evil. Matt 6:13
Praying two things. Evil.
Definite Article: the evil one. Bible footnote.
1 Pet 5:8: be watchful.
G: 1. Pray for deliverance from temptation: not just sin.
Deep humility, power of sin.
J: Acknowledge weakness: calories. Greg’s weight loss. You can’t
hang out in donut shops. Weekday no desserts. Those navigating
breaking addiction: you can’t go to the same parties, hang out with
the same people.
G: friend: juggle coals. Prov 6:27
J: 2. Dig up roots. Buffle grass. Uproot sin and temptation.
Fight temptation. Don’t flirt with it.
G: 2 Tim 2:22; Rom 13:14: flee!
J: Run! Away from. And toward. Where is sin crouching at your
doorstep?
Envy: social media. Lust: internet access, filter. Anger/fear: news.
Greed: shopping access. Gossip: conversations with certain friends.
G: 3. Pray! We can’t do this ourselves!
2 Pet 2:9: we need the HS.
J: We need Jesus. Baptism: declaring they want to be one with
Christ. I am not of this world.
