Choose Joy
Joy. The dictionary defines it as “the emotion of great delight or happiness caused by something exceptionally good or satisfying.” The apostle James tells us to “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds,” (James‬ ‭1‬:‭2‬). Have you ever thought about how backwards that is? Let’s put those together: “Take great delight in suffering.” Stop and read that again. “Take great delight in suffering.” People often ask me how I can endure suffering and pain...

How to Keep Sheltering in Place Successfully
How do you shelter in place? Are you climbing the walls? I have learned this skill over many years. So many people have asked how I’m doing during the quarantine. That‘s a tough question to answer! I am in the ultra high-risk category, so my rational mind is telling me to be anxious. But frankly, my everyday life hasn’t changed much at all. I’m still in the same routine. I “shelter-in-place” as a lifestyle to protect my immune system … and I’m watching much of the world experience the quiet...

How Do You Face Crippling Anxiety?
Ever wake up with a pounding heart, racing brain, and knots in your stomach? I hate anxiety. My body and brain are just convinced that the world is falling apart, that I’m going to die early, that I’ll lose all my clients, that something will happen to a loved one, and on and on it goes… It’s way too easy to give in…to hide under the covers and cry. Or worse, to start really believing the lies my brain is yelling at me. The downward spiral is pulling me harder and harder. But there is a way...

You MATTER. Never Forget It!
Ever had God blow your socks off? Shock you with His goodness? Leave you speechless with His plan? This weekend I was reading the new book by Richard Preston. He wrote the Hot Zone years ago about the Ebola virus breakout outside of Washington DC. His newest covers the Ebola crisis in West Africa four years ago. (I know, I know, why on earth am I fascinated by deadly viruses and germs?) Anyway, the ending of the book described the two American medical personnel from Samaritan’s Purse who...

4 Keys to Genuine Worship from Revelation
Revelation chapters four and five provide a unique opportunity to experience a bit of heaven—and John’s description is the tiniest glimpse of a mind-blowing reality we cannot even begin to comprehend. And the overwhelming truth this passage provides is the heaven isn’t just where Christians will spend eternity, a paradise of golden streets and enormous mansions. Heaven is all about God. It is a living, breathing testament to His glorious presence, an all-encompassing place of utter devotion...
